About the Organiser / Institution

The Centre for Sports Law (CSL) operates under UPES School of Law, Dehradun. The Centre focuses on academic and practical engagement in the field of sports law, including sports governance, dispute resolution, anti-doping regulations, contractual frameworks, and intellectual property in sports. Through quizzes, competitions, research initiatives, and academic discussions, CSL aims to promote awareness and understanding of sports law as an emerging and significant legal discipline.

UPES School of Law is a leading law school in India known for its emphasis on interdisciplinary learning and contemporary areas of legal education. Vidhiutsav is the School’s annual flagship legal fest, hosting multiple national and international academic events.

About the Event / Opportunity

The Centre for Sports Law (CSL), UPES School of Law, is organising Codex Sportivus, an International Sports Law Quiz Competition as part of Vidhiutsav 2026. The quiz is intended to assess and enhance participants’ understanding of sports law and its interface with international legal systems.

Sports law has developed into a dynamic and expanding area of legal practice, covering issues such as arbitration before sports tribunals, governance of international sports bodies, anti-doping frameworks, athlete contracts, sponsorships, broadcasting rights, and intellectual property. Codex Sportivus seeks to provide law students with a competitive platform to engage with these themes academically and practically.

The competition will be conducted in a hybrid mode, allowing participation from students across India and abroad. By encouraging international participation, the quiz aims to foster comparative learning and global perspectives on sports-related legal issues.

Prizes

  • Winning Team: INR 8,000 cash prize and a Certificate of Merit.
  • Runners-up Team: INR 6,000 cash prize and a Certificate of Merit.
  • 2nd Runners-up Team: INR 4,000 cash prize and a Certificate of Merit.
