About CGC University, Mohali & the School of Legal Studies
CGC University, Mohali, established in 2025 under the aegis of the Chandigarh Educational Society, carries forward a rich educational legacy of over 25 years. Known for its emphasis on academic quality, industry readiness, and holistic development, the University has earned recognition through NAAC A+ accreditation, NIRF rankings, QS I-Gauge Platinum Rating, and NBA accreditation.
The School of Legal Studies (SLS) at CGC University has rapidly emerged as a centre of excellence in legal education. Offering both 3-year LL.B. and 5-year integrated law programmes, SLS focuses on blending doctrinal rigour with experiential learning. With experienced faculty members, a well-equipped moot court, digital resources, and a strong research orientation, the school is committed to nurturing competent, ethical, and socially conscious legal professionals.
Lex Fiesta 2026 reflects this vision by creating an experiential ecosystem where students can apply legal knowledge, engage with societal issues, and express cultural creativity.
Vision and Philosophy of Lex Fiesta 2026
Lex Fiesta 2026 is designed around a simple yet powerful idea: law must be learned, lived, and expressed. The fest seeks to move beyond rote learning and competitive formalism by offering events that test not only legal knowledge, but also empathy, ethics, communication, creativity, and teamwork.
By combining academic competitions with cultural and socio-legal events, the fest aims to foster constitutional values, interdisciplinary interaction, and national-level academic integration among students.
Events at Lex Fiesta 2026
Lex Fiesta 2026 offers a thoughtfully curated mix of academic and cultural events, ensuring participation opportunities for both law students and students from other disciplines.
Academic Events (Open to Law Students)
1. Client Counselling Competition
A skill-based, non-adversarial competition focusing on client interaction rather than courtroom argumentation. Participants are assessed on their ability to understand client problems, communicate legal advice clearly, demonstrate empathy, and adhere to professional ethics. The competition is conducted over multiple rounds across two days and closely simulates real-world legal practice.
2. Maxim Bee
An engaging academic competition designed to test participants’ conceptual clarity and application of Latin legal maxims. Conducted in three rounds, Maxim Bee evaluates quick recall, analytical reasoning, and articulation, making it a favourite among students who enjoy doctrinal challenges.
3. Chandigarh Quiz on Constitutional Law (CQCL)
A flagship constitutional law quiz celebrating the spirit of the Indian Constitution. The quiz includes MCQ rounds, case-law identification, and audio-visual questions covering constitutional provisions, landmark judgments, doctrines, and contemporary developments. CQCL aims to deepen constitutional awareness and promote scholarly excellence.
Socio-Legal and Cultural Events
4. Socio-Legal Skit Competition (Open to All Disciplines)
This competition provides a creative platform for students to explore social issues through a legal lens. Themes may include child rights, cybercrime, migration, access to justice, and constitutional values. Participants present original scripts and performances that combine legal awareness with impactful storytelling.
5. Folk Dance Competition (Open to All Disciplines)
Celebrating India’s rich cultural diversity, the Folk Dance Competition invites teams to showcase traditional dance forms rooted in regional heritage. Judged on authenticity, coordination, expression, and overall impact, the event promises vibrant performances and cultural exchange.
6. Just A Minute (JAM) – Open to All Disciplines
A fast-paced speaking event that tests spontaneity, clarity of thought, and confidence. Participants speak for exactly one minute on a given topic without hesitation, repetition, or deviation. JAM is one of the most engaging and audience-friendly events of the fest.
