Details About the Event

The 1st Nation-wide CGCU Legathon, 2026, is conceived as an experiential learning platform designed to bridge classroom learning and real-world legal practice. Unlike traditional competitions, Legathon focuses on immersive, applied legal tasks rather than on routine presentation-based formats. Participants engage with live legal issues linked to emerging themes such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, justice delivery systems, contracts, and professional ethics.

The core philosophy behind Legathon is learning by doing. Students are encouraged to analyse, argue, draft, redesign legal solutions, and defend their reasoning in dynamic settings. The competition replicates practical roles of modern legal professionals, including advocates, advisors, policy designers, and contract drafters.

The event consists of four unique components:

  • AI and Cybersecurity Debate (Offline)
Teams debate the theme “Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity: A Boon or Bane?” where participants must prepare both sides of the argument.
  • Client Counselling Competition (Offline)
Participants receive simulated client problems and demonstrate legal reasoning, communication skills, ethics, and advisory capacity.
  • Law–AI and Justice Design Challenge (Hybrid)
Participants submit innovative justice design proposals focusing on AI-enabled and human-centred legal solutions.
  • Draft a Contract Marathon (Hybrid)
Individuals draft contracts within a stipulated time and present key clauses, compliance aspects, and reasoning before judges.

Through these events, Legathon aims to sharpen practical skills, legal analysis, argumentation, drafting ability, and professional decision-making in a technology-influenced legal environment.

Who Is It For / Eligibility

Legathon welcomes participation from a wide academic community, ensuring inclusivity across disciplines where law intersects with technology and governance.
