About the Organisers

Peitho Cup 2026 is organised by the School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, through the Debate and Literary Society of the Students’ Bar Association (SBA), in collaboration with the Entertainment and Media Law Committee.

The Debate and Literary Society serves as a platform for fostering critical thinking, public speaking, and intellectual discourse among students. The Entertainment and Media Law Committee is dedicated to promoting awareness and practical engagement in the fields of entertainment, media, and intellectual property law.

Together, these bodies aim to create meaningful opportunities for students to develop advocacy, research, and analytical skills.

Details of the Event

Peitho Cup 2026 is the 2nd Edition of the flagship Asian Parliamentary Debate Championship hosted by CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The competition also features “The Reporter’s Showdown,” providing participants with an opportunity to engage in both debating and reporting formats.

The preliminary rounds will be conducted online, while the Octa-Finals, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Finals will be held offline at the university campus. The event aims to bring together students from across India for rigorous intellectual engagement, persuasive advocacy, and competitive debate.

Eligibility

The competition is open to all university students across India. Both law and non-law students are eligible to participate. A maximum of three teams per College/Institution/University shall be permitted to participate.

Location

  • Online Rounds: Conducted virtually.
  • Offline Rounds: CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, Mulshi, Pune, Maharashtra, India.

How to Register?

  • Register through the Official College Email ID or a recognised Student Association Email ID.
  • Complete the payment through the CHRIST University Online Payment Portal.
  • Retain the payment receipt.
  • Fill out the official registration form and upload the payment details.

Important dates

  • Release of Registration Forms: 1 June 2026
  • Early Bird Registration Deadline: 1 August 2026
  • Regular Registration Deadline: 20 August 2026
  • Assignment of Team Codes: 1 September 2026
  • Online Preliminary Rounds: 12–13 September 2026
  • Online Round Results: 16 September 2026
  • Offline Rounds: 3–4 October 2026
  • Valedictory Ceremony: 4 October 2026

Fee

  • Debate Team (4 Members – 3 Debaters + 1 Reporter)
    Early Bird Registration: ₹3,300 per team
    Regular Registration: ₹4,000 per team
  • For Qualifying Teams Attending Offline Rounds
    Debate Team (3 Members): Additional ₹2,500
    Reporter: Additional ₹850

Prizes

  • Total Prize Pool: ₹1,00,000+
  • Debate Competition
    Winners: ₹50,000
    Runners-Up: ₹30,000
    Best Speaker: ₹10,000
  • Reporter’s Showdown
    Winner: ₹10,000
    Runner-Up: ₹7,000
