About SEBI Legal Internship Programme
The primary aim of the SEBI Legal Internship Programme is to familiarise law students with the legal and regulatory framework governing the securities market in India. Interns get an opportunity to work closely with SEBI’s legal team, gaining practical exposure to compliance, enforcement, and policymaking in a real-world environment.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a law school/university recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and UGC
- Be in:
- 4th or 5th year of a 5-year integrated law course, OR
- 2nd or final year of a 3-year LL.B. programme
- Note: Students who have already appeared for their final semester exams are not eligible
- Have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA in the previous semester
- Be below 28 years of age as on the date of application

Full-time (Physical/Offline)
Location
SEBI Headquarters, Mumbai
Duration
Minimum 4 weeks, starting from the first working day of the month
Stipend
Up to ₹10,000 per month
Application Process
- Applications must be submitted only through the online portal on the SEBI website
- Application window: 1st to 7th of every month (for internship in the immediate next month)
- Applicants must upload a duly filled, signed, and stamped cover letter on the official letterhead of their law school/college/university (as per the prescribed format)
- The cover letter must clearly mention the aggregate percentage obtained in previous semesters
- Applications without the prescribed cover letter format will not be considered
Selection Process
- Selection is merit-based, primarily considering academic performance
- Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Exposure to corporate/securities laws
- Prior internship experience
- Publications, moot court participation, etc.
- Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email only
- Selected candidates must confirm acceptance within 2 days, failing which the offer may be withdrawn
