About RRU
Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) is an Institution of National Importance of India and a specialised national security and police university under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The University was established by the Parliament of India through Act No. 31 of 2020. It focuses on education, research and training in national security, policing, strategic studies and interdisciplinary areas.
About the School
The School of Criminal Law and Military Law (SCLML) aspires to establish itself as a premier school in the fields of Criminal Law, National Security Laws and Criminology.
The School focuses on legal education, research, scholarship and capacity building, with its curriculum combining theoretical knowledge with practical exposure, particularly in Criminal and Security Law.
About RRU Centre for International Law
The RRU Centre for International Law (RCIL) is chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University.
The Centre focuses on emerging perspectives in international law and works at the intersection of international law and security. It seeks to contribute to a rules-based international legal order through research and scholarly engagement on contemporary issues concerning international peace, security and international law.
About the Event
The 3rd RRU International Moot Court Competition (RIMC 2026) is being organised as part of International Law Week 2026 by Rashtriya Raksha University.
The Moot Court Proposition has been crafted around contemporary issues in International Law and International Security, engaging with emerging global realities. The competition seeks to provide aspiring international law scholars with an opportunity to analyse complex legal questions, apply established legal principles to evolving factual scenarios and develop practical and principled solutions.
The competition emphasises:
- Contemporary issues in International Law and International Security.
- International Relations and its intersection with international law.
- Principles and values of the United Nations Charter.
- Peaceful settlement of disputes.
- Recognised sources of International Law.
- Practical and sustainable approaches to emerging international legal challenges.
The competition forms part of International Law Week 2026, which is being organised around the theme “International Law, Global Peace and Security.”
Eligibility
The competition is open to all students who are bona fide and regularly enrolled in an undergraduate law programme, including:
- 3-year LL.B. programmes;
- 5-year LL.B. programmes; or
- Equivalent undergraduate law programmes,
offered by any recognised institution in India or abroad, duly accredited by the competent authority.
Each recognised institution is entitled to send only one team.
In a university system with constituent colleges, each constituent college may register a team, or the university may be represented by a team comprising students from different constituent colleges.
Competition Structure
The competition will comprise two stages:
Memorial Elimination Round
The Memorial Elimination Round will be based on the evaluation of memorials.
The top 30 teams will qualify for the Oral Rounds.
Oral Rounds
Teams qualifying through the Memorial Elimination Round will participate in the Oral Rounds, comprising:
- Preliminary Rounds;
- Quarter-finals;
- Semi-finals; and
- Finals.
Letter of Intent and Letter of Authorization
Teams are required to submit the Letter of Intent (LoI) and Letter of Authorization (LoA) at the earliest.
The timely submission of the LoI and LoA will enable the Organising Committee to allocate team codes and make the necessary logistical arrangements.
The process will be:
LoA & LoI Submission → Team Code Allocation → Memorial Submission → Memorial Elimination Round → Oral Rounds → Awards & Recognition.

The venue is approximately 35 km from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad and 25 km from Gandhinagar.
How to Register?
Interested teams may register through the official registration links given at the end.
Teams must also submit the requisite Letter of Intent and Letter of Authorization and the memorial within the prescribed timeline.

The official timeline places the last date for submitting the registration form along with memorials on September 15, 2026.
Fee
Registration Fee: No registration fee.
Accommodation/Food Fee: No registration or accommodation fee will be charged to teams that qualify through the Memorial Elimination Round and advance to the Oral Rounds.

The total cash prize pool is Rs. 1,85,000.
International Scholarships
The top 12 International teams will be awarded a USD 1,000 scholarship, in accordance with the RIMC Rule Book, to promote International Law studies and research across different regions.
Teams receiving the scholarship will be required to remain present in person for the entire duration of International Law Week, from November 20 to December 5, 2026.
The scholarship will be provided in the form of a sustenance fund and actual needs.
