About the Organisation

Sangam University, Bhilwara, located in the Mewar region of Rajasthan, was established in 2012 by the Badrilal Soni Charitable Trust and promoted by the Sangam Group of Industries. The University aims to provide world-class education that is both accessible and affordable.

The School of Legal Studies (SOLS) at Sangam University is approved by the Bar Council of India and is dedicated to nurturing competent legal professionals through rigorous academic training and practical exposure. The institution regularly organizes academic events, seminars, and moot court competitions to promote advocacy skills and legal research among law students.

About the Opportunity

The 3rd Vidhi Vimarsh National Moot Court Competition, 2026, is a flagship academic initiative of the School of Legal Studies, Sangam University.

The competition seeks to provide a platform for law students from across the country to:

  • Develop advocacy and courtroom skills
  • Engage with contemporary legal issues
  • Enhance legal research and drafting abilities
  • Experience simulated courtroom proceedings

The moot proposition for this edition addresses complex issues under the newly enacted criminal law framework of India, encouraging participants to apply doctrinal legal principles to contemporary legal challenges.

Theme

The moot problem titled “The State v. Dr. Aryan Malhotra” revolves around criminal liability arising from a medical procedure complicated by:

  • An intervening natural disaster (earthquake)
  • Use of automated medical technology
  • Issues relating to causation, mens rea, and evidentiary integrity

Key legal doctrines involved include:

  • Doctrine of Causation & Novus Actus Interveniens
  • Doctrine of Transferred Malice
  • Thin Skull Rule
  • Admissibility of Electronic Evidence

Relevant statutes include:

  • Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023
  • Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023
  • Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023

Eligibility

Participation is open to students enrolled in:

  • 5-Year Integrated Law Programmes
  • 3-Year LL.B. Programmes

All participants must be bona fide students of their respective institutions.

Each team shall consist of:

  • Two Members: Both speakers or one speaker and one researcher
    OR
  • Three Members: Two speakers and one researcher
