About the Role
iProbono India is seeking a Junior Program Officer to join its Delhi office. The selected candidate will assist in child protection litigation while also contributing to advocacy and capacity-building efforts.
This role is ideal for motivated early-career legal professionals who are passionate about social justice and child rights and are interested in building a long-term career with the organisation. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the Indian legal system, strong communication abilities, and an organised, proactive approach to work. The role requires both independent functioning and effective teamwork while supporting the Programs Team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law.
- 1–3 years of court experience, preferably with an NGO, civil society organisation, or litigation chamber.
- Familiarity with child protection laws in India, including the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and the POCSO Act, 2012.
- Strong research, drafting, and organisational abilities.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Hindi.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend court hearings, liaise with panel lawyers, and monitor follow-up actions.
- Carry out legal research and support drafting of briefs, notes, and case summaries.
- Maintain proper case records, update internal databases, and track hearing schedules and litigation progress.
- Assist in designing strategic litigation and advocacy initiatives based on grassroots needs.
- Develop and sustain relationships with NGOs and child rights groups.
- Plan and conduct workshops and training sessions for partner organisations and beneficiaries.
