The competition is organised under the esteemed patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Gunjan Gupta, Professor In-Charge, Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi. Her academic leadership and institutional guidance provide strong intellectual and administrative support to the initiative.
The competition is conducted under the academic guidance of Dr Rohit Moonka, Assistant Professor, Campus Law Centre, and Faculty Convenor of the ADR Society. Dr Moonka’s expertise in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution ensures that the competition maintains rigorous academic standards and remains aligned with current developments in arbitration law and practice.

About the ADR Society, Campus Law Centre
The ADR Society, Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi, is a student-led academic body functioning under the guidance of its Faculty Convenor. The Society is dedicated to promoting awareness and understanding of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, including arbitration, mediation, conciliation, and related processes.
The Society actively engages students through workshops, seminars, training programmes, simulations, expert lectures, and academic discussions. By encouraging both theoretical and practical engagement, the ADR Society seeks to promote efficient, cost-effective, and amicable dispute resolution while equipping law students with skills essential for contemporary legal practice.
About the Competition
The 1st ADR Research Paper Writing Competition 2026 offers law students a valuable opportunity to engage with critical issues in International Commercial Arbitration in India. As India seeks to establish itself as a preferred seat of arbitration, scholarly engagement with its legal framework, judicial trends, and arbitral practices has become increasingly important.
The competition is organised in collaboration with Corporate Legal Partners, a New Delhi-based full-service law firm led by Mr. Vikas Kumar, FCIArb. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to promoting research, reform, and capacity-building in arbitration and ADR.
Participants are encouraged to submit original research papers that demonstrate analytical depth, doctrinal clarity, and practical relevance. Submissions should reflect independent thought and contribute meaningfully to existing arbitration literature.
Prizes and Recognition
The competition offers the following prizes:
- First Prize: ₹10,000 along with a Certificate of Merit
- Second Prize: ₹7,000 along with a Certificate of Merit
- Third Prize: ₹5,000 along with a Certificate of Merit
- Three Consolation Prizes: ₹2,000 each
- E-Certificates to all participants
Further, selected research papers may be considered for publication, subject to editorial review.
Themes of the Essay
Submissions must be based on one of the following themes:
- Arbitrability of Commercial Disputes in India: Uncertainty and Its Impact on International Arbitration
- Judicial Intervention in International Commercial Arbitration in India: Rhetoric versus Reality
- Technology-Driven Arbitration in India: Prospects and Problems
- Emergency Arbitration in India: Legal Recognition and Enforcement Challenges
- Taxation Claims in Commercial Arbitration: Pleadings, Proof, and Practice
- Ancillary and Consequential Damages in Commercial Arbitration: Scope, Limits, and Drafting Pitfalls
- Damages, Expert Evidence, and Valuation Methodologies in Commercial Arbitration
Eligibility
- The competition is open to bonafide students enrolled in full-time 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programmes.
- Participants must be students of a recognized law college, institution, or university in India.
- In case of joint authorship, a maximum of two authors is permitted, and both authors must belong to the same institution.
Registration and Submission Details
- No registration fee is charged.
- Participants must submit:Registration Form (Annexure–1) and Declaration of Authority (Annexure–2)
- All documents must be scanned and submitted along with the complete research paper.
- A scanned copy of a valid student ID card of each participant is mandatory.
