About the Competitions

The SPARKLE 7.0 Moot Court Competition serves as a platform for law students to develop their advocacy, research, and writing skills while engaging with pressing legal issues. This year’s moot problem focuses on ‘Aryavatha’, a secular democratic republic with a plural religious history, which enacted the Places of Worship (Status Protection) Act, 1991, to freeze the religious character of all places of worship as on 15 August 1947, following widespread communal unrest over historical site disputes.

The constitutional validity of the Act is challenged before the Supreme Court on grounds of violation of fundamental rights, denial of judicial remedies, perpetuation of historical injustices, and inconsistency with the secular fabric of the Constitution.

The SPARKLE 7.0 Client Counselling Competition is designed to enhance participants’ legal counselling skills, including client interaction and problem-solving tactics. The competition features scenarios from diverse legal domains, such as Constitutional Law, Family Law, Torts, Corporate Laws, Artificial Intelligence, and Technology Laws. By fostering empathy, analytical thinking, and effective communication, the event prepares participants for real-world legal challenges, emphasizing a client-centred approach to legal practice.
