About the Institution
Government Law College, Thrissur, established in 1992, is one of Kerala’s premier centres of legal education, affiliated to the University of Calicut and recognized by the Bar Council of India. The College maintains a vibrant academic environment and is deeply committed to excellence in legal scholarship and advocacy training. The College hosts an active and dynamic Moot Court Society that organizes moot court competitions, trial advocacy programs, and client counselling events at intra-college, state, and national levels. A hallmark of this commitment is the All-India Moot Court Competition for the Justice T. Ramachandran Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy, instituted in honour of the late Justice T. Ramachandran, Judge, High Court of Kerala.
This annual competition continues to stand as a platform where students from across the country demonstrate legal acumen, articulate reasoning, and professional courtroom etiquette in an intellectually stimulating environment.
About the Competition
Government Law College, Thrissur is inviting registrations for the XIVth All India Moot Court Competition 2025–2026, conducted annually for the prestigious Justice T. Ramachandran Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy. The event will be held on 30th & 31st January 2026, combining rigorous rounds of oral advocacy with strong academic engagement.
The XIVth All India Moot Court Competition 2025–2026, meticulously organised by Government Law College, Thrissur, offers an opportunity for budding advocates to engage in robust legal analysis and persuasive courtroom advocacy.
The 2026 edition revolves around the constitutional validity of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, enabling participants to explore intersections of constitutional law, electoral democracy, and administrative discretion. The competition attracts talented teams from law colleges across India and provides an enriching environment to develop research skills, courtroom strategy, and professional confidence.
Team Composition and Eligibility
- The competition is open to all Law Colleges, Law Schools, and Law Departments recognized by the Bar Council of India.
- Participation is restricted to undergraduate law students enrolled in the 3-year LL.B. or 5-year integrated law programme.
- Each institution may register only one team. If multiple entries are received, the team submitting an authorization letter from the Head/Dean/Moot Court Committee will be considered.
- Each team shall consist of:
- Two Speakers, and
- One Researcher
- No additional member or faculty mentor may accompany the team.
- The participating institutions must bear travel expenses.
Mode of the Competition
- Preliminary Rounds: Online
- Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals & Finals: Offline at Government Law College, Thrissur campus
Rounds and Structure
1. Preliminary Rounds (Online)
Dates: 16th & 17th January 2026
- Two stages; teams argue once as Petitioner and once as Respondent
- 60 minutes per round
- 25 minutes per team for oral submissions
- 5 minutes for rebuttal/sur-rebuttal
- Separate opponents for both rounds
2. Quarter-Finals (Offline)
Date: 30th January 2026
- The top 8 teams qualify
- 70 minutes per round
- 30 minutes per team for oral submissions
- Knock-out stage
3. Semi-Finals (Offline)
Date: 31st January 2026
- 90 minutes per round
- 40 minutes per team for oral submissions
- Knock-out stage
4. Final Round (Offline)
Date: 31st January 2026
- 90 minutes total
- 40 minutes per team for oral submissions
Memorial Guidelines
Each team must submit Memorials for both Petitioner and Respondent.
Format Requirements
- A4 size paper
- Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1.5 spacing
- Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10-point, single spacing
- Citation: Harvard Bluebook (21st Edition)
- Maximum 25 pages for the body of arguments
- No identification marks permitted

Any discrepancy between soft and hard copies will lead to disqualification.

Conducted for the top 20 teams selected for preliminary rounds.
