About the Organisers
WBNUJS (est. 1999) is among India’s premier Tier-I law universities, with a strong record of academic excellence and global achievements (including historic wins at the Willem C. Vis and Stetson international competitions). The University’s alumni, partnerships, and placements reflect its training in rigorous, ethical legal practice.
The event is organised by the Society for Advancement of Criminal Justice (SACJ), one of NUJS’s most active academic bodies, focusing on contemporary issues in criminal law and justice and facilitating deep engagement with the criminal justice system.
About the Competition
The NUJS National Trial & Advocacy Competition recreates the flow of an Indian trial court, where facts are unearthed and tested, bridging classroom theory with courtroom practice. Participants work through evidence collection and admissibility, examination-in-chief, cross-examination, expert testimony, objections, and final arguments, with an emphasis on competence under the new substantive and procedural criminal laws.
