The State of Maharashtra, realizing the importance of quality legal education and the need for well-trained law graduates for the Bar, Bench, and profession, took a bold decision by creating three National Law Universities in the State at Mumbai, Nagpur, and Aurangabad. Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, established in 2014, stands as one of India’s leading National Law Universities, aimed at fostering society-oriented research and advanced legal advocacy.

About CTRCR

The Centre for Training and Research in Commercial Regulations (CTRCR) focuses on the dissemination of knowledge related to Corporate and Commercial Law prevailing in domestic and international arenas. It works to bring together experts, practitioners, and students to stimulate research and debate, strengthening cooperation between the legal profession and academia. CTRCR contributes to public discourse through its flagship publications and events like the National Corporate Due Diligence Competition (NCDDC) and the National Article Writing Competition and Workshop.

About the Competition

The CTRCR at MNLU Mumbai is thrilled to announce the second edition of the MNLU-M National Corporate Client Counselling Competition (NCCCC) 2026. Following a resounding first edition judged by professionals from firms like SAM, CAM, and Khaitan & Co., this platform returns to allow students to engage with challenging, real-world corporate law issues.

This unique competition tests participants’ skills in handling complex corporate dispute scenarios, requiring adept client management, legal interpretation, and strategic counselling. The 2026 edition scales this experience further, challenging 40 teams to navigate complex scenarios across a diverse spectrum of laws:

  • Company and Contract Law
  • Insolvency and Bankruptcy
  • Banking, Finance, and Securities Law
  • Capital Markets

Eligibility

This competition is open to all law students enrolled in either a 5-year integrated law program or a 3-year LLB program.

Timeline

  • Registrations Open: 7th January, 2026
  • Registrations Close: 15th February, 2026
  • Preliminary Rounds (Online): 27th – 28th February, 2026
  • Advanced Rounds (Offline): 11th April, 2026

How to Register?

Registration can be completed via the provisional registration link attached at the end of the post.

Registration Details

  • Institutional teams as well as Individual Open (Non-University) teams can register.
  • Institutional teams shall be issued the final registration form upon successful completion of the registration process.
  • Mixed teams and open category teams shall be granted provisional registration, based on the availability of slots. Final confirmation for such teams shall be communicated separately after evaluation via mail.
  • The team composition shall comprise 2 counsels. Selected students from MNLU Mumbai will role-play as clients in all rounds.

Fee

  • The registration fee for the Online Preliminary Rounds is Rs. 4,500 per team.
  • An additional fee of Rs. 5,500 per team will be incurred for the 4 teams qualifying for the Offline Advanced Rounds.

Competition Structure

  • Preliminary Rounds (Online): Each team will participate in 2 rounds based on different propositions. One round will be conducted per day. The top 4 teams will be selected based on their cumulative scores.
  • Advanced Rounds (Offline): The top 4 teams will compete in the semi-finals on campus. The top 2 teams will advance to the final round, judged by a 5-judge panel.

Awards

  • Winner: INR 20,000 + Internship Opportunities
  • Runners Up: INR 10,000 + Internship Opportunities
  • Best Counsel: INR 10,000 + Internship Opportunities
