About the Organiser

At the very outset, SVKM’s Pravin Gandhi College of Law (PGCL) (5 – Year Course) was established in the year 2004 and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. PGCL is an institution that reckons in creating and curating a generation of lawyers that pioneer ground-breaking changes in the legal labyrinth.

About the Competition

Nyayavlokan, the flagship event of PGCL, is renowned as a one-of-a-kind competition in the country. PGCL was among the first institutions in India to introduce the National Trial Advocacy Competition, offering students a unique opportunity to gain exposure and hands-on experience in realistic criminal trial proceedings. Our goal is to create an environment that closely mirrors the dynamics of an actual criminal trial, providing participants with an immersive and experiential learning platform. Each year, 24 distinguished colleges nominate up to 100 students to take part in this prestigious event.

Over the course of the 3-day event, participants undergo five intensive rounds of evaluation. The preliminary rounds are overseen by 48 Criminal advocates, while 12 distinguished senior counsels judge the quarterfinals and semifinals. The final round is presided over by a retired Justice of the Bombay High Court, ensuring the highest standard of assessment by experienced criminal advocates.
