About The Competition

The NLIU Agreement Drafting and Presentation Competition is an initiative of the NLIU Law Review, aimed at fostering an understanding of practical aspects of contract law. The second edition of the Competition will be conducted physically at the NLIU campus on 06-07 February 2026.

About NLIU Bhopal

Established in 1997, the National Law Institute University, Bhopal, is one of India’s premier law schools. It was established through the Rashtriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, enacted by the Madhya Pradesh State Legislature. The University has a strong tradition of fostering academic excellence and practical learning among students.

About NLIU Law Review

The NLIU Law Review is the flagship journal of NLIU, Bhopal, published biannually by the students of the University. It is a peer-reviewed academic law journal that promotes research and writing in contemporary legal issues and serves as an important forum for academic discourse. The Law Review has completed fourteen years, with twenty-four editions in publication.

Format of the Competition

The Competition will be conducted in two phases:

  • Phase I – Contract Drafting Round: Participants will draft an agreement and a concept note based on a Contract Proposition, which will be a fictional problem statement. These submissions will be reviewed by the student editors of the NLIU Law Review.
  • Phase II – Contract Presentation Round: The top twenty (or as determined) teams will proceed to the second phase, where they will present their drafted contracts before a panel of esteemed judges. This will be followed by a session on the nuances of contract drafting and legal research, and a valedictory ceremony for the distribution of awards.

Eligibility

The Competition is open to all law students (UG & PG) from recognized universities and institutions.

  • Last Date for Registration: 31 December, 2025
  • Last Date for Submission of Drafted Agreements: 09 January, 2026
  • Notification of Selected Teams for Phase II: 15 January, 2026
  • Presentation Round at NLIU Campus: 06-07 February, 2025
